Casa de Oro - "Gem of a school"

Nestled in the Casa de Oro neighborhood is gem of a school.  CDO Elementary sparkles with children, teachers, and support staff, all under the leadership of Principal Dana James.  As Dana and I  reflected on our relationship, Dana's face lit up with joy and gratitude.  This has been my first year as the Common Ground liaison and we were discussing the events of the past year. She began with the food that was supplied for families both at Thanksgiving and Spring Break, along with the heartfelt gifts for children of families in need of attention and support.  Dana continued with excitement for the upcoming day of golf for 14 families at CDO.  The children were ones who would not normally be able to go and/or children that were trying very hard in school and not giving up.  She then spoke of the books given to the children, books to keep as their very own.  Last, we spoke of the upcoming 6th Grade Tea.  We both were exctied for this new experience for the kids and one that most would not have experienced.  Dana concluded that the greatest part of a relationship with Common Ground was knowing that CDO had someone to call, people to count on, and extra support that she could not find anywhere else.

And me, I feel priviledged to serve and help this gem of a school which by the way my two children attended 20 years ago!
