Cold Refrigerator, Warm Heart

Last year, a mother of six children, one with diabetes, shared with her children's school office that her refrigerator was giving up. Her daughter's medication needed to be kept cold. (She was keeping in the freezer section, and even that wasn't cold enough.)

Common Ground put the word out to our congregations, and within hours we heard from someone who had a retired refrigerator in their garage that worked just fine. The person made arrangements to be there when we could pick it up. We were able to deliver it to the family the next day.

The beauty of this gift is that it didn't cost anybody anything except a little extra time and the thoughtfulness to answer our call for help.
