Common Ground Volunteer Kickoff 2011

This Saturday (October 1st) from 9am to 10am, we are holding a Common Ground "Kick Off" to celebrate the start of the new school year. You'll hear and share stories about the various ways in which Common Ground volunteers support five schools in the Spring Valley community. You will also have an opportunity to confirm your current volunteer availability and preferences. The attached flyer provides details about the kick off. It will be held in the youth center at Foothills United Methodist Church. Common Ground is an alliance of churches, grounded in faith and sharing the desire to improve the well-being of the community that surrounds them. Common Ground exists to reflect the love of God to the community by building partnerships with the local education system. We have a number of ongoing projects, including Books 4 Kids, hygiene and school supply kits, and teacher appreciation; however, our greatest need is volunteers in the classroom. A volunteer can read with children or tutor children in math. A volunteer can help with the Art Docent program or an after school enrichment class such as golf, chess, or knitting. Common Ground serves approximately 2,500 children attending five schools in the Spring Valley community, and as you might imagine, the need for help is great. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for prayerfully considering how you will help make this a happy new school year with the children, their families and the teachers of our Common Ground schools.
